Sending From Distribution Lists & Aliases  Print this Article

Step 1:

To send from a Distribution List (DL) or alias you will need to get your mailserver administrator to add the distribution list / alias email address to your account as a send option.


Step 2:

Once you've got confirmation from the email administrator that the address has been added to your account, login to Zimbra and click on ‘Preferences' in the top menu then ‘Accounts' in the left-hand pane.

Step 3:

Add a new persona by clicking the ‘Add Persona' button on the right hand side.


Step 4:

Change the ‘Persona Name' to either ‘Distribution List' or the alias name. This is the persona name as it will show to you when creating emails.


Step 5:

Change the ‘From' name and email address. The distribution list or alias email address should show up as a selection option.

Please note: If the DL email address does not show up in step 5, please advise your email administrator.


Step 6:

Be sure to save your changes.

Now when composing an email you will see a drop-down box allowing you to change who the email is from:
